Unlike load-bearing welds, its role is sealing gaps or joints to prevent leaks, improve corrosion resistance, and in some cases, to enable easier cleaning or preparation of a surface for finishing.
Distinguishing Seal Welds from Structural Welds
While both may look similar, a structural weld is designed to carry loads, resist stress, and form part of the load-bearing skeleton of a structure. A seal weld, in contrast, might be cosmetic or functional in a different way, such as forming a barrier against water or corrosive gases.

In orbital welding, the laser beam is guided continuously 360° around the workpiece to be welded.
Our Orbital laser welding Machine is used for automated circumferential welding of rotationally symmetrical metallic components. It covers standard round and spiral diameter ranges of 0–65 mm as well lines of 0 to 65 mm long and squares of max 45 by 45 mm.
During orbital laser welding, the laser processing head guides the weld seam in a continuous pass around the round part. A gas nozzle ensures optimal shielding gas coverage throughout the entire welding process.
