Installed between a laser’s optical component and the work area, protective windows or laser debris shields protect the optics from dust, vapors, fumes, fragments, slag, and so on. The quality of the protective window is very important to avoid down-time, and also to increase the lifetime of your optics components, specifically the lens and/or normal operation of the laser, keeping the quality and performance of the laser system.
By the nature of their use, laser debris shields are a consumable product. Covering the optical element of a laser, cover slides collect dust and block debris that would otherwise come into direct contact with the focus lenses. Also, debris shields allow operators to better see and operate the lasers. Over time, these shields will collect a layer of dust and microscopic nicks and scratches. Failure to replace laser debris shields in a timely manner is leading to strongly diminished laser performance and higher heating of the torch. Protective Windows are designed to prevent down-time and to protect your company investment and equipment.
We recommend replacing protective windows frequently, however it really depends on how many hours your machine is working. Some customers replace their protective windows every single day, some others replace them every 80 hours, or every Friday. It actually depends on the amount of runtime, the sort of job executed and your best judgment. It’s like taking a shower… maybe you can go without for a few days, but the consequences are negative. The best maintenance is the preventative one! Do not wait for it to break, and then fixing it. The down-time can be very distressing and expensive.
Protect windows for your fiber laser welding machine are relatively inexpensive and ensure that your expensive lens package remains protected inside the laser head. In practice, we often see that people try to save a few Euro's on protective windows and then have to spend hundreds or thousands of Euro on expensive lens packages, for which they have sometimes to wait VERY long.
Lasermach team can deliver fast not only it own protection windows, but also a lot of different Fiber Laser Protective Windows (debris shields) in many standard diameters, or based on customer requests. We Do have stock!
We do have immediate delivery of protective windows that work with most of today’s handheld industrial laser processing welding systems.
To ensure that they not only protect the laser optical component, but also allows the laser to function as designed, debris shields from Lasermach are manufactured with customized ultra-low reflectivity and excellent quality of laser grade raw material.
Here is a list (soon available) of Protective Windows that Lasermach has available for immediate delivery. Usually, fiber laser protective windows are sold on the website in packs of 5 or 10 units. Distributor or large quantity pricing is available with a discount. Please contact Lasermach sales team.
High Quality Laser Protection Lens for Laser Welding Machine
1064nm Laser Protection Lens
Properties of the protective glass
A clean laser lens is imperative for the laser welding machine to work properly. Over time the protective lenses will be covered with dirt. Some of the dirt can be washed off, while others – such as welding splashes – burn into the glass. This reduces the efficiency of the laser over time. To prevent this it is wise to replace the protective lens on a regular basis.
Our filter glass for laser welding is optimized for 1064nm and can withstand up to full power. The glass will have a faint color reflection from the coating applied to the glass to optimize the transmission of the laser light at 1064 nm.
